Late-Diagnosed Autism & ADHD Support

Have you always felt different or that somehow you didn’t quite fit in? Perhaps you have recently been diagnosed or are exploring a diagnosis of autism, ADHD or both.

At Newcastle Counselling, I can help you explore the challenges and strengths that make you uniquely you and how to get the most out of life in a world often better suited for neurotypical people.

I was late diagnosed as autistic and an ADHD-er in my late forties. It was quite an emotional rollercoaster ride. Ultimately, I have found it liberating to be real with myself, to recognise my strengths and to make allowances for my difficulties. I have realised that I am not alone in having a lot to process. This is often the case for the individual, family, friends and colleagues.

Counselling sessions at Newcastle Counselling are centred on you. If you need movement breaks, use fidget toys, need dimmed lighting or wear noise cancelling headphones, this is all normal for me. I often wear precision tinted glasses to make my light sensitivity and visual stress more comfortable.

Newcastle Counselling is not a place to seek diagnosis of autism or ADHD, rather it is a place to talk about what it means to you, its impact on your life and how to be you. You are, after all, a wonderful, interesting and valuable human being.
